How to enable receiving new direct messages on Twitter?

By default, Twitter has certain filters and settings disabled, which can hinder users from having a seamless experience with messaging, tweets, and private conversations. One common issue is being unable to receive new direct messages on your account.

Prerequisite

• A Twitter account with access to the web version.

Enable receiving new direct messages

1. Log in to your Twitter account using the web version.
2. Go to More on the left-hand navigation bar and click on Settings and Privacy.
3. Navigate to Privacy and Safety > Direct Messages.
   
   
4. Toggle on the Allow message requests from > Everyone option.
   
   
   With this option enabled, you will now be able to receive direct messages from anyone.
