By default, Twitter has certain filters and settings disabled, which can hinder users from having a seamless experience with messaging, tweets, and private conversations. One common issue is being unable to receive new direct messages on your account.
Prerequisite
- A Twitter account with access to the web version.
Enable receiving new direct messages
- Log in to your Twitter account using the web version.
- Go to More on the left-hand navigation bar and click on Settings and Privacy.
- Navigate to Privacy and Safety > Direct Messages.
- Toggle on the Allow message requests from > Everyone option.
With this option enabled, you will now be able to receive direct messages from anyone.
